Hi Everyone. It's been some time and I need to update. First off to everyone I would like to thank everyone out there who helped make Pecknpaw a success. And It was great meeting a bunch of talented people at CTN. Now on to Tangled my first film as a screen credit. I actually started as a trainee and that rolled over into a full time position. I couldn't have done it without the help of my mentor Kevin Nelson, Mac George, Dave Goetz, Dan Copper, Doug Rogers, Shiyoon Kim, Claire Keane, Paul Felix, Mike Gabriel, Jeff Turley and my character mentor Bill Schwab. They all helped me in all different disciplines, which was definitely was hard to keep learning new information every week and some times every day. But I feel like I grew so much thanks to all of them.

My main roll as a visdev artist turned into mostly texture referencing the environments. But every now and then there would be a props and environment designs thrown my way. As well as Moment Paintings and ideation sketches. It definitely feels like I was all over the place looking back at it but I'm glad all the directors gave me the opportunity to try new things and trusted me, a newb, to get it done. I tried to follow the art direction of the classic disney style and was really inspired by Pinocchio. In some attempts I tried watercolor in hopes that Gustaf Tenggren would somehow flow out of my brush:P Enjoy, I probably put up way too much but I guess I just need to share and make up for not posting.

PECKNPAW BOOK SIGNING @ GALLERY NUCLEUS

This Saturday August 7th at Gallery Nucleus 7-10pm will be a book signing/gallery opening. Stop by if your in the area and say hi to all the artist in the book. Also thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth at Comic Con, we weren't in a highly visible spot so those that did were trying, Thanks again. Here's a link for more info on the Book Signing.

FROG

Its been some time since I took the time to go to some figure drawing sessions. It felt like working out for the first time in years. Showed me how out of shape I was, but it feels good to hit those weights again. Mind you these were the better of the lot.

Haunted Geisha

A new personal illustration I've been working on and off for a little while. I was going to do a step by step thing but I got lazy part of the way in and forgot to save in increments oh well. But you can see some sketches and stuff. I wouldn't say this is my normal process it just kinda happened this way mostly because it all spawned from that little digital sketch at the bottom. Also thanks for all the great comments guys its great to be back :)

SUPER MARIO

I was inspired by new Mario Galaxy and must say it just as good as the first time Mario dawned the Tanuki Suit (aka racoon suit). Looking back now I just realized I used up time that could have been used for playing Mario Galaxy. Ah well.

Also my girlfriend also can't stop giggling at Mario's new bee suit. I wonder how he feels about that?

AMP

So what does xgamers, amp energy drink, a trex zombie, a fire demon, and zeus all have in common?

They're all character designs I drew for an amp/xgames commercial. I'm not sure if you can still check it out on the old boob tube but be sure to check out the three legged legs website. These guys are the shit and I had a bunch of fun working with them. Oh and be sure to click on the artwork section to see a whole making of case study to see all the other awsome artwork by equally awsome artist that worked on the project.

Its been a while but heres a little something something from the fish barrel. Its a Hippokampos (half horse, half fish) and a Hippalektryon (half horse, half rooster). Greek Mythology is fun.

This is the Fish Pot Ghost or "Nabe Ghost." A little something for an art challenge. I've been playing Okami lately and was influenced by old Japanese imp paintings. This guy loves to eat green onions and the souls of hungry lost travelers. His back is made from a pot or "nabe". The things he eats have been known to show up in a soup made in the nabe. Which is what hungry travalers see, a big pot of tasty fish head soup with a dash of YOUR SOUL.

Mine and Kendelle's Pumkin. She wanted to color these little design drawings. I'm so glad that all those days in art school are finally starting to pay off.

Paper Mache masks made to scare the little boogers that come to are door. Kendelle's is "Barrel" and mine is "Lock."

Another work art challange, Draw yourself as a super hero. And hensforth Doodude, Note the crazy hair that can shapeshift into anything. Had some cool ideas for the shapeshifting hair and his mentor. A old barber with an afro. We'll see if it gets up here. Until then back to making the world a better place one pixel at a time.

Thanks for all the great comments on mario guys, really appreciated. This was just a little challenge me and a couple of guys at the office were doing. Pick your faviorite 80's iconic character(s) and draw them in your favorite artist style. So just a little Gooines in Jamie Hewlett's style.
